Coat of arms of King Béla IV of Hungary

Coat of arms description

The reverse of the Golden Seal of Béla IV features a double cross in a triangular shield, which can be traced back to the special veneration of the relics of Christ in the 13th century.

King Béla IV of Hungary

(November 29, 1206 – May 3, 1270) King of Hungary from 1235 until his death. He was the second child of King Andrew II of Hungary and his first wife, Gertrude of Merania. He is traditionally ranked among the greatest Hungarian rulers. He is credited with the reconstruction of the country after the Tatar invasion, hence the epithet “the second founder of the homeland”. He is also considered the founder of Buda Castle.
