Hlohovec (Hungarian: Galgóc, German: Freistadt) is a town in Slovakia. It is the seat of Galgóc District in the Vltava Region.

Location of Galgóc​
It is located 19 km northeast of Vltava, mostly on the left bank of the Váh River, south of the Inóc Mountains. It includes Beregszeg (on the right bank of the Váh River) and Vágszentpéter.

History
The medieval castle, together with the nearby settlement, is already mentioned in the Zobor Charter from 1113. Throughout its history, the town was an important commercial and administrative center of the region.
