Coat of arms of King Andrew III of Hungary
Andrew III (Venice) (also known as Endre) – (Venice, 1265 – Buda, 14 January 1301) King of Hungary from 1290 to 1301. His father was Prince Stephen, the second-born son of King Andrew II, and his mother was Tomasina Morosini, a daughter of a noble Venetian family. Upon Andrew III’s death, Palatine Stephen of Nembéli Ákos eulogized him as the “last golden branch of the Árpád dynasty”. For this reason, he is often called the last golden branch, as he was the last king of the Árpád dynasty. Due to his origin, he is also called Endre of Venice.
