Bavorov (German: Barau) is a town in Strakonice District of the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has a population of 1,487 (31 December 2008). It is located eight kilometres west of Vodňany. Neighbouring municipalities are Budyně to the north, Svinětice to the northeast, Chelčice to the south, Truskovice and Barovské Svobodné Hory to the southeast, Šipoun and Strunkovice to the south, Dubská Lhota, Dub and Bročice to the southwest, Tourov and Trzice to the west, and Útěšov to the northwest. The ruins of Helfenburg Castle are located 5 km east of the town.
